Project Description: New construction of 87,000 square foot two-story middle school. Demonstration project for the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) program, done with support from the California Energy Commission.

KBA Scope: Full commissioning of HVAC system, DDC system and lighting controls including specifications, design review and intent, and sustainable materials and energy efficiency verification. HVAC system comprised of a ground source heat pump system with a back-up gas pulse combustion condensing boiler and VFD pumps as well as a water loop with gas boilers to pre-heat outside air. The HVAC system is controlled by a Honeywell DDC system. Lighting controls include occupancy sensors, photocell on/off daylighting controls and a low-voltage panel system for common area and exterior lights.
