Our Company

KBA is dedicated to helping building owners realize the highest value for their facilities through building commissioning, retro-commissioning, and building system diagnostic services. As commissioning specialist we have commissioned hundreds of facilities in the United States, Europe and Asia, ranging from a few thousand to nearly one million square feet. Our staff's extensive background in building systems design, construction and operation enables us to team build and work productively within the building industry. Pete Keithly founded our original company in 1996. In May of 2005, Kent Barber, P.E., LEED AP joined our firm as a principal, and Keithly Barber Associates was incorporated. Kent is recognized as a building commissioning "pioneer" and a founding member of the Building Commissioning Associates (BCA). Today KBA is owned by Kent Barber, P.E., LEED AP and Senior Project Managers Ryan Hay, P.E., LEED AP and Jeremy Fugere, LEED AP.

Our Commitment to Professional Excellance

KBA is a Building commissioning Association (BCA) member. We set and abide by the highest professional standards. We are experts in the ASHRAE Commissioning Guidelines and our work is done in accordance with the Building Commisioning Association's (1999) "Essential Attributes of Building Commissioning." In the early days of commissioning Kent Barber helped found the Building Commissioning Association. Today KBA principals and engineers give comissioning presentations and training around the country and serve as officers and active participants in leading commissioning associations and organizations.

Our Commitment to High Performance Buildings

KBA is a U.S. Green Building Council member and over half our technical staff is LEED Accredited. KBA principals teach and present on commissioning LEED projects to governmental organizations, professional associations and sustainable building classes. Our resume of completed and active LEED projects includes projects within the New Construction, Core & Shell, and Commercial Interiors programs; some with Gold, Silver and Platinum ratings. We are also experts in commisisong for high performance building programs such as the Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS), the Washington Sustainable Schools Protocol for High Performance School Facilities, and Labs 21.
