Patrick Berdick achieves CCP Status

KBA would like to congratulate Patrick Berdick on becoming a Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) by passing the BCCB's national, ANSI accredited examination.

The BCxA defines the Certified Commissioning Professional as, 'an individual who leads, plans, coordinates and manages a commissioning team to implement commissioning processes in new and existing buildings. Earning your certification means that you have demonstrated expertise in knowledge and experience in the commissioning process and technical knowledge to deliver the tasks, with the skills and abilities, using the required equipment and resources.'

Patrick has been a CxA with KBA since 2014, and has quickly established himself as a topnotch commissioning professional. He now joins fellow KBA team members Kent Barber, Ken Toombs, Jeremy Fugere, Ryan Hay, Myra Ferriols, Joe Warren and Jeramy Bromley who are also Certified Commissioning Professionals.

Toombs & Associates / Keithly Barber Associates Merger - Update

Re: Toombs & Associates / Keithly Barber Associates Merger - Update

On April 1st 2014, Colorado-based Toombs & Associates merged with Seattle-based Keithly Barber Associates (KBA). Ken Toombs, P.E., CCP and Kent Barber, P.E., CCP, LEED AP have a long history of working together in the field of commissioning, sharing similar philosophies, values and approaches. Two and a half years later, and the successful partnership between Toombs & Associates and KBA continues to strengthen, as Ken Toombs substantially reduces his involvement in commissioning, eventually working towards retirement.

Ken Toombs continues as the Chief of Operations for the Toombs & Associates Commissioning Specialist Division of KBA, and will continue to manage our current Toombs & Associates projects until they are complete. New contracts will be completed by KBA to the same high standards that KBA and Toombs & Associates clients have come to know, working with Toombs & Associates clients to seamlessly provide services and deliverables in the familiar Toombs & Associates style. Toombs & Associates has provided an outstanding commissioning service to clients for the past 21 years and Ken is happy to see this continued by KBA. To quote Ken, "We anticipate a smooth transition without disruption to current clients and projects."

The Toombs & Associates Colorado presence will be maintained by KBA's new Colorado branch office. In September of this year, KBA co-owner Ryan Hay, P.E., CCP, LEED AP, relocated to the Boulder, Colorado area as Vice President in charge of this branch. Ryan, a Colorado native and University of Colorado graduate, has over 22 years of mechanical and electrical systems experience, and over a decade of specialized commissioning experience. Over the coming weeks, Ryan and Ken will be speaking with clients individually to answer any questions which may arise regarding this transition.

If you have any questions that you would like to discuss with Ken Toombs immediately, please feel free to contact him at:

We look forward to our continued business working relationships and the successful completion of any current or future contracts.

Ryan Hay, P.E., CCP, LEED AP, VP of KBA Colorado Division

A Happy Holiday Season from KBA

KBA wishes you a happy holiday season, and a new year filled with success and happiness.

2016 has been positive for KBA, with continued prosperity and a constantly diversifying portfolio. This year saw the transition of KBA Co-Owner and Principal, Ryan Hay to the position of VP of KBA's Colorado Division. We are excited to have our Colorado Office to support Toombs and Associates Clients, as well as build new relationships in the Rocky Mountain, Southwest and Midwestern regions. We also celebrated the launch of our new website and the award of the BCxA's CCP to three of our CxA's; Ryan Hay, Joe Warren and Jeramy Bromley - congratulations to them on their success!

Finally, we would like to thank everyone we have worked with over the past year for their support towards making commissioning business as usual.

The KBA Team.
