Project Description:
The original Skagit County Jail opened in 1984 with a capacity of 83 inmates. It quickly grew to house a population 2 1/2 times that. This growth led to a number of significant issues, and the need for a new jail arose. The new 243,000 square-foot facility opened in Spring 2017 with an upgraded 400 bed capacity. In addition, the SCCJC has spaces for rehabilitation programs and training, health and psychological services and food preparation and laundry facilities.
